5/24/2023 0 Comments Colour and light james gurney![]() ![]() ![]() James Gurney, a highly experienced artist who works both with paintings for reproduction and for easel painting, has posted a series of articles on his blog, Gurney Journey, that delve into this often misunderstood aspect of color choices. You will often hear me mention a “carefully controlled” or “limited” palette when talking about specific artists, particularly those working in film and gaming concept and visual development art, where limited gamuts are used to dramatic effect. When starting from a particular set of colors, the gamut is the range of colors that can be produced by mixing those colors (usually with the addition of white). It’s not a term that painters use as often, but “gamut” also applies to a painter’s palette. ![]() Those working with print reproduction are very familiar with the concept of the CMYK gamut, or the range of colors that can be reproduced using traditional Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black printing inks, a smaller subset of the colors available, for example, on a computer monitor. More specifically it is a range of colors that can be created or reproduced on a particular device or with a certain set of beginning colors. ![]()

5/24/2023 0 Comments Swann's way book![]() A third-person novella within Swann's Way, "Un Amour de Swann" is sometimes published as a volume by itself. Swann's Way is divided into four parts: "Combray I", "Combray II", "Un Amour de Swann", and "Noms de pays: le nom". When published it was advertised as the first of a three-volume novel. Proust eventually arranged with the publisher Grasset to pay the cost of publication himself. The first part (Swann's Way) was rejected by a number of publishers. Proust continued to work on it until his final illness in the autumn of 1922 forced him to break off. In Search of Lost Time follows the narrator's recollections of childhood and experiences into adulthood during the late 19th century to early 20th century aristocratic France, while reflecting on the loss of time and lack of meaning to the world. Valentin Louis Georges Eugène Marcel Proust, known as Marcel Proust, was a French novelist, critic, and essayist best known for his monumental novel In Search of Lost Time earlier rendered as Remembrance of Things Past. ![]() 5/24/2023 0 Comments Prison planet barbarian![]() ![]() “What was that book called” posts are exempt from this rule, as they are unlikely to show up in future searchesīook requests must be specific and contain detail.Book request titles must contain details about the kind of book you’re looking for. ![]() ![]() Inflammatory titles like Does Anyone Else, Unpopular Opinion, or similar are not allowed.Gush and critique posts should contain the book title/author if applicable. Included in the book are several shorter works. Raven is a high school teen and camp counselor for the summer whose younger half-sister Brooke is attending camp. (That’s a lie, of course it can.) I’m not going to pussyfoot around: Black Enough is an impressive collection and you should get your hands on it from the store, the library, or in any other legal manner.įrankly, I can describe every story in the anthology as a highlight because all of them are just that good, but that’s not how highlights work! As Garber works through what we read, how we read, and why we read, no stone is left unturned, from literary criticism to Kindles, Milton to Dan Brown, health pamphlets to Nietzsche. ![]() But in her new book, The Use and Abuse of Literature, she takes her fondness for broader arguments and uses it to tackle literature as a whole, defining it, evaluating it, and discussing its future as an integral part of the human experience. With book titles such as Shakespeare and Modern Culture, Shakespeare After All, Coming of Age in Shakespeare, and Shakespeare's Ghost Writers to her credit, as well as a multitude of articles, she has certainly done her time as a specialist. Harvard English professor Marjorie Garber is perhaps best known for her work on Shakespeare. ![]() 5/24/2023 0 Comments Author of long way down![]() ![]() ![]() On the elevator on the way down to the street, ghosts of people from Will’s past get on the elevator. When 15-year old Will’s older brother Shawn is shot and dies in the street, Will finds Shawn’s gun and sets out to avenge his death. Out of all Moonies, he is the one that gets targeted in each book. Who needs nine o's in one word? Or four exclamation marks? I'm not a very experienced writer, but if I had written this book, I would have fixed the first quote to say "'Why not?' Violet would whine, stretching out the words to prove her exasperation." Or something like that. I hate to see all of those extra letters in a professional, published book. There was only one person at MBA who ever made a sound like that: Lars Sjoberg."Waste of Space, chapter 11, page 169 It sounded like it had to come from the other side of MBA, but was loud enough to echo throughout the base. "Suddenly there was a howl of rage outside the room. There's nothing to do on the moon.'" Waste of Space, chapter one, page five "'Whyyyyyy nooooooooot?' Violet would whine. When he put in extra letters to show that someone was stretching out the word. Also, there may be a few spoilers, so be warned when reading.ġ. Please don't take any of my comments as hate, these are just me commenting on the book as a reader. I mean, he can write books, but it isn't very well written. Maybe I just didn't how terrible the writing was in previous books, or Stuart Gibbs suddenly lost his writing ability. In my honest opinion, this wasn't very well written. ![]() |
